Four Dead, Ten Injured in Mass Shooting at Child’s Birthday Party in California
A child’s birthday celebration turned tragic in Stockton, California, on Saturday evening when a gunman opened fire, killing at least four people and injuring ten others, including both adults and children.
The shooting occurred shortly before 6:00 p.m. at a banquet hall in the city’s north end, where families had gathered for the party. The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office described the scene as “unfathomable,” noting that officers arrived to find multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds.

Authorities say early findings suggest the attack may have been targeted, though investigators are exploring every possible motive. No arrests have been made, and the suspect remains at large. Police have urged residents to provide any information or footage that may assist the investigation.
The injured victims were transported to nearby hospitals, but officials have not yet released details on their conditions or identities. Local leaders expressed shock over the tragedy.
Stockton’s Vice Mayor, Jason Lee, said he was “devastated and angry,” stressing that “a birthday party should never be a place where families fear for their lives.”
The sheriff’s office says the investigation is active and ongoing as the community reels from yet another episode of gun violence.
