Four Suspected Drug Traffickers Arrested in Enugu as Police Raid Hideouts
The Enugu State Police Command has intensified its fight against drug trafficking and criminal hideouts, arresting four suspected drug traffickers and seizing large quantities of illicit substances during a coordinated, intelligence‑led operation across the state.
Operatives from the Command’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team raided hideouts in Enugu metropolis, including areas behind New Market and other identified hotspots. The suspects, comprising one female and three males, were apprehended for alleged involvement in drug peddling and distribution, with exhibits recovered including bags of Indian hemp (cannabis), hard drugs, and ₦1.8 million in cash.

The operation, conducted on January 25 and 26, 2026, is part of sustained efforts by the Enugu police to dismantle drug networks, cult-related hideouts, and criminal dens in the state. Police spokesperson SP Daniel Ndukwe confirmed that investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend accomplices.
This crackdown follows similar enforcement activities in Enugu, including raids in Holy Ghost by Railway Market Road and arrests of suspected cultists linked to hard drug trafficking, highlighting the overlap between drug peddling and cultism in the region. Earlier this month, police also arrested a suspected drug dealer disguised as a dispatch rider in Uwani, seizing tramadol and methamphetamine.
Enugu State Commissioner of Police Mamman Bitrus Giwa, psc, reiterated the command’s commitment to intelligence‑driven policing, urging residents to remain law-abiding and cooperate with security agencies to eradicate drug supply chains and criminal hideouts.
The operation is expected to strengthen public confidence and curb the spread of illicit drugs and related crimes in Enugu State.
