Gas Explosion Kills Two, Destroys Properties in Ajah Area of Lagos

A tragic gas explosion on Saturday rocked the Ajah axis of Lagos, leaving two people dead and causing widespread destruction to properties, including warehouses and roadside shops.

Eyewitnesses reported that the explosion occurred in a commercial area, sending panic through the neighborhood as a loud blast was followed by thick smoke and flames. The impact destroyed nearby structures, with several small businesses and storage facilities reduced to rubble.

Emergency responders, including officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, were swiftly deployed to the scene to contain the fire and prevent further damage.

Authorities confirmed that two persons lost their lives in the incident, while others sustained varying degrees of injuries and were taken to nearby medical facilities for treatment.

Residents and business owners in the area have called on the government to strengthen safety regulations and monitoring of gas handling facilities to prevent future occurrences.
