IED Explosion Injures Soldier, NSCDC Operative in Imo
An improvised explosive device (IED) explosion has left a soldier and a personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps injured in Orsu Local Government Area, raising fresh concerns over security in the South-East region.
Sources said the incident occurred during a routine security patrol in the area, which has witnessed sporadic attacks and violent incidents in recent times. The victims, whose identities have not yet been disclosed, were reportedly part of a joint security team working to maintain peace and stability in the locality.

Eyewitness accounts indicate that the explosive device detonated unexpectedly, causing panic among residents and security operatives. The injured personnel were immediately evacuated to a nearby medical facility, where they are currently receiving treatment. Their conditions were not officially confirmed as of press time.
Security agencies are yet to issue a detailed statement on the attack, but preliminary reports suggest that the device may have been planted by suspected armed groups operating in the area.
The incident adds to the growing list of security challenges in Imo State, particularly in communities like Orsu, which have experienced repeated clashes involving security forces and non-state actors.
