Authorities say nine of the arrested individuals are alleged leaders coordinating the operations, while the rescued 44 were being coerced into participating in fraudulent activities. All arrested persons have been handed over to the Ghana Immigration Service for further processing and investigation.
Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, emphasised that the crackdown is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle cybercrime networks, protect vulnerable youths from exploitation, and secure digital spaces in Ghana. He warned that foreign nationals should avoid falling prey to deceptive job offers used by fraudsters to lure victims into cybercrime.
This action continues a series of targeted operations in Ghana against organised internet fraud, highlighting the government’s commitment to combating cybercrime and safeguarding both residents and foreign nationals from exploitation.
