Gunmen attack another school, abduct 300 Zamfara female students

Nine days after the abduction of Kagara schoolboys in Niger State, gunmen have kidnapped about 300 female students of GSS Jangebe in Zamfara State.

The schoolgirls were abducted by the bandits midnight, according to a BBC Hausa Service report.

The report monitored on Friday morning quoted a teacher of the school and a parent of one of the students as confirming the incident.

The police authorities have not reacted to the development.

The first major abduction of schoolchildren by an armed gang happened on April 14, 2014 in Borno State, where over 300 students of Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, were abducted.

Four years later, gunmen attacked Government Girls’ Science and Technical College, Dapchi, in Yobe State, and abducted 119 students.

In December 2020, over 300 male students were abducted at Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, Katsina State.
