Gunmen attack former Anambra Gov Ngige’s convoy, leaving two dead, several injured
Gunmen on Wednesday ambushed the convoy of former Anambra State Governor, Dr. Chris Ngige, along the Nkpor–Nnobi Road in Idemili North Local Government Area, resulting in the death of two individuals and injuries to several others.
Sources revealed that the attackers, disguised in police and military uniforms, opened fire on the pilot vehicle, killing a policeman and seizing his rifle and uniform.

A woman who was recording the incident on her mobile phone was also shot dead at the scene. Additionally, a shop owner who rushed out to observe the attack sustained severe gunshot injuries and is undergoing surgery to remove bullet fragments; he is currently in stable condition.
The escort leader, who was also shot, has undergone surgery and is expected to recover fully. The pilot car was riddled with bullets, highlighting the intensity of the attack.
Dr. Ngige was not present in the convoy during the assault. His former press secretary, Fred Chukwuelobe, confirmed the incident, stating that Dr. Ngige assured that all necessary measures were being taken to provide medical care for the injured. Ngige also extended condolences to the family of the woman killed while recording the attack.
The Anambra State Police Command has yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.
