How we rescued 5 kidnapped victims – Ondo Amotekun boss
The Ondo State Command of the Western Nigeria Security Network, known as Amotekun Corps, has rescued five victims from kidnappers seeking N150m ransom.
Commander of the Amotekun Corps in Ondo State, Mr. Adetunji Adeleye, disclosed this on Wednesday while briefing journalists in Akure.
He said the victims were rescued in two separate operations on May 6 and May 10, as part of an intensified forest combing strategy adopted by the corps.
According to Adeleye, four of the victims were abducted along the Iromeh axis of the Lagos–Ore Expressway on May 10.
He said the kidnappers, a gang of four men, had demanded N100m for their release.
However, Amotekun operatives swung into action minutes after receiving a distress call through their emergency line.
“We received a distress call shortly after the incident occurred and our men were immediately mobilised into the forest. Within a short period, the victims were located and rescued safely without paying a dime,” Adeleye stated.

In a separate incident, the fifth victim was kidnapped on the Ikare-Owo Road on May 6. The abductors had demanded a N50m ransom for his release.
Adeleye said, despite the victim sustaining multiple machete wounds from his captors, he was rescued alive and is currently receiving medical attention at the corps’ facility.
“He is receiving treatment at our medical facility. We acted on credible intelligence, and our swift response helped save his life. We want to assure residents that any information shared with us will be treated with the utmost confidentiality,” Adeleye said.
The Amotekun commander also highlighted the increased patrol and forest surveillance being carried out by his officers to enhance the security of lives and property across the state.
“Our officers and rangers are on 24-hour patrol and deep forest operations to ensure rapid response to any credible threat or intelligence,” he said.
Adeleye reaffirmed the commitment of the Ondo State Government and Amotekun Corps to maintaining a zero-tolerance stance on kidnapping, armed robbery, and other criminal activities.
“The government is doing everything possible to ensure the safety of residents. We remain committed to rooting out crime and restoring peace in every corner of the state,” he added.
