Imo Police Launch Manhunt After Gunmen Kill Driver, Abduct Motorists in Ngor-Okpala
The Imo State Police Command has launched a massive manhunt for gunmen who killed a driver and abducted motorists in the Amala area of Ngor-Okpala Local Government Area. The attack occurred around 5:50pm on December 7, 2025, according to the command’s spokesperson, Henry Okoye.
Okoye stated that the armed assailants emerged from a bush path and opened fire on a Toyota Highlander (number plate SMK 514 BD), killing the driver instantly. They also abducted the occupants of a Lexus RS300, marked FSD 334 XA.

The Imo State Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, has directed an intensive operation involving police units, local vigilante groups, and other security agencies to apprehend the suspects and rescue the kidnapped victims. Officers from the Ngor-Okpala Division responded promptly to the scene, securing the area. The injured driver was taken to a hospital but was pronounced dead.
Police have commenced bush-combing and search-and-rescue missions in the Amala forest and surrounding communities. Preliminary inquiries have already produced promising leads.
The command has urged residents to remain calm and assist in the investigation by reporting any information to the nearest police station or via 0803 477 3600. Okoye assured the public that all necessary resources are being deployed to rescue the abducted victims and prevent future attacks.
