Imo: Police nab suspected killers of DPO, inspector

Imo State police in South-east Nigeria have detained suspects in the murders of a divisional police officer (DPO) and an inspector in Ahiara Junction, Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area.

Recall that on November 27, suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its militant arm, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), allegedly assassinated two operatives in Imo state.

The Commissioner of Police in Imo State, Aboki Danjuma, at a press briefing at the State Police Headquarters in Owerri on Sunday, said the suspected killers of the operatives were among a total of 25 crime suspects arrested in the state, ThisDay reported.

Mr Danjuma said the suspects were arrested for various criminal cases ranging from IPOB activities, armed robbery, murder, stealing/receiving stolen properties, cultism, and unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.

The police commissioner said the suspects in the killing of the DPO and the inspector were also “evidently linked” to the recent killing of a traditional ruler in Ezinihitte Mbaise, and a Peoples Democratic Party ward chairperson.

He added that the killings prompted him to convene a meeting with various security agencies to reel out collaborative security strategies to track down the attackers.

Confessions of a few suspects arrested at the scenes of the incidents assisted the police operatives in raiding some criminal hideouts, he said.

“Police operatives in synergy with the military, operatives of the anti-kidnapping unit subsequently stormed the camp of the (crime) suspects at Umuohie in Ngor Okpala Local Government Area of Imo State, dislodged the terrorists, recovered two automatic pump action rifles and six rounds of live cartridges,” he said.

More raids, arrests

Mr Danjuma said, in continuation of the operation using a technical intelligence tracking device, the police operatives also raided another camp in Igbodo-Etche in Rivers State and arrested a native doctor, Everest Agbaragam, 62 who hails from the community in the South-southern state.

“A search of his shrine led to the recovery of one pump action gun loaded with 12 rounds of live cartridges, one big bag containing various denominations of Biafra currencies, one live crocodile and fetish items,” he said.

Tuface deletes posts professing love to Igbinedion granddaughter Natasha

Tuface Idibia has deleted the posts he made professing his love for Natasha Irobosa Osawaru, an Edo Satte lawmaker.

The singer shared several posts last night, including a video, where he made it clear that he loves Natasha and would like to marry her.

He also addressed those who have been judging him for announcing that he has ended things with his wife Annie Idibia after 12 years of marriage. He asked the critics how perfect their own lives are.

He also stated that he and his ex-wife, Annie Idibia, are on good terms with great understanding.

“On the other side, Annie and I are not fighting, we are not quarrelling. We have a good understanding of ourselves and what’s going on,” he said.

Additionally, in a bit to address the notion that the lawmaker, Natasha, caused the fall out between him and his wife, he said in her defence: “Honourable Natasha has seen. She has been called all sorts of names. She is a young, brilliant, amazing woman. She had nothing to do with what’s happening between Annie and me in our marriage. She has absolutely nothing to do with that, but I see everybody allegedly trying to rope her into everything.”

However, Tuface has now deleted the posts he made showing off his new love.

A look at his Instagram account shows only older posts made by the singer.

Lagos hotelier remanded in prison for alleged sexual assault on boy

A  Lagos hotelier, Opara Macdonad, 49, has been remanded in prison for allegedly sexually assaulting a 16-year-old boy.

The incident occurred in November 2024 at Macdonad’s residence in Egbeda, Akowonjo, Lagos.

According to the police, the victim’s father, Christian Edozie, reported the incident to the Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Adegoke Fayoade, after his son alleged that Macdonad had sexual relations with him through his anus twice.

The police stated that Macdonad took the victim from his hotel in Ejigbo to his residence, where the alleged assault occurred. The victim reportedly sustained injuries to his anus.

The victim’s father alleged that his son became mentally unstable shortly after the incident and was taken to various hospitals for treatment. He also claimed that the police at the Isheri Oshun division were initially unwilling to arrest Macdonad, prompting him to petition the AIG.

Following the petition, AIG Fayoade directed his team at the Oracle Unit to investigate the matter.

The police team stormed Macdonad’s hotel, but he allegedly fled through the back door. Macdonad later reported himself to the police with his lawyer and was arrested and detained.

After an investigation by Sergeant Olabanji Abiye and his team, Macdonad was charged before the Igbosere Magistrate’s Court sitting at the Tinubu Magistrate’s Court on a two-count charge bordering on defilement.

Police Counsel, Ben Ekundayo, told the court that Macdonad committed the offence in November 2024 at 4b, Osoba Street, Egbeda, Akowonjo, Lagos.

Ekundayo informed the court that the defendant took the victim from his hotel in Ejigbo to his residence, where he forcefully had sex with him through his anus, causing injuries.

The offenses, Ekundayo said, are punishable under sections 137 and 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Macdonad pleaded not guilty to the charges. The police counsel opposed his bail, citing the seriousness of the offence.

The court ordered Macdonad to be remanded in the Ikoyi correctional facility for 30 days, pending advice from the Department of Public Prosecutions (DPP). The case was adjourned until March 18, 2025.
