ISWAP Terrorists Attack Yobe Police Outpost, Kill Officer and Burn Patrol Vehicles
A suspected ISWAP attack on a police outpost in Geidam Local Government Area of Yobe State left one officer dead early Wednesday, marking yet another surge in Nigeria insecurity.
Sources told Daily Trust that the insurgents stormed the facility around 1:30am, arriving on foot before launching a 45-minute assault marked by sporadic gunfire. During the attack, the gunmen reportedly opened police cells, burned two patrol vehicles, and stole another.
“In what appeared to be a silent operation, the insurgents killed one police officer, opened the cells, burned two patrol vehicles, and made away with one,” a security source said.

The source added that intelligence reports indicate ISWAP fighters have been regrouping in Yunusari LGA, particularly in Sukdu, Buhari, Mattati, and Bulabulin.
Confirming the incident, Yobe Police Command spokesperson SP Dungus Abdulkarim said investigators believe the attackers may have specifically targeted the division to seize operational vehicles.
The attack adds to a string of violent incidents across the country, which recently forced President Bola Tinubu to suspend foreign trips. Last week, terrorists killed several soldiers, Civilian JTF operatives and a Brigadier-General in the Northeast. On Monday, bandits attacked GGCSS Maga in Kebbi, killing a staff member and abducting 25 students. Two days later, gunmen raided a church in Kwara State, killing worshippers and kidnapping 30 others.
Reacting to the widespread attacks, Minister of Information Mohammed Idris announced that the President has placed all security agencies on highest alert.
