The 25th Abuja International Motor Fair roared to life on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, with Cedric Autos — a subsidiary of the Cedric Masters Group — delivering one of the event’s biggest highlights: the official unveiling of the new JIM-ISUZU Pickup, a tough, tech-forward model engineered for Nigeria’s demanding road and commercial conditions.
The unveiling, performed on behalf of Vice President Kashim Shettima by the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh, drew a massive crowd to the Eagle Square exhibition arena. Senior government officials, including the Minister of State for Industry, Senator John Owan Enoh; NADDC Director-General, Otunba Joseph Oluwemimo Osanipin; NADDC Board Chairman, Chief Emma Eneukwu; top Customs officials; fleet operators; transport entrepreneurs; and a wide range of automotive enthusiasts joined the audience in witnessing what many called “the most exciting pickup debut of the year”.

With its aggressive front fascia, raised chassis, aerodynamic profile, and confident stance, the JIM-ISUZU quickly asserted itself as a vehicle built for Nigeria’s toughest terrains. Locally assembled, the pickup blends sturdiness with modern design and smart features.
Cedric Motors Chairman/CEO, Chief Anselm Ilekuba, described the vehicle as “the perfect fusion of Chinese engineering, Japanese technology, and African resilience.”

During a demonstration test-run inside Eagle Square, NADDC DG Osanipin showcased the pickup’s smooth acceleration, tight turning radius, and impressive stability — earning cheers from spectators and potential buyers.
The vehicle’s launch aligns with Nigeria’s broader push for industrialization and increased local automotive capacity. In his remarks, the Vice President applauded Cedric Motors for strengthening local assembly efforts and providing Nigerians with more reliable transport options.

The Minister of State for Industry added that the JIM-ISUZU’s entry is expected to “raise the competitive bar, stimulate fleet renewal, and support local content growth across the automotive value chain.”

Hours after its unveiling, Cedric Motors reported a wave of purchase enquiries from corporate organisations and government agencies.
Chief Ilekuba confirmed that flexible financing packages — designed in partnership with local banks — will make the pickup accessible to SMEs and retail buyers across the country.
“We are confident that the JIM-ISUZU will soon be a common sight on farms, construction sites, highways, and in cities,” he said. “This is a game-changer.”

Motoring World marks 30 years, set to rally industry leaders in Lagos
Motoring World, one of Nigeria’s foremost automotive publications, will celebrate its 30th anniversary on June 4, 2026, with a high-profile event at the MUSON Centre.
The milestone gathering is expected to draw policymakers, industry leaders, diplomats and innovators to commemorate three decades of impactful journalism, advocacy and contribution to the growth of Nigeria’s automotive sector.
Founded on June 12, 1996, as a syndicated radio magazine programme, Motoring World pioneered automotive broadcasting in Nigeria before expanding into print in 1998. It has since evolved into a multi-platform brand at the forefront of promoting industry development, modernization and policy reform.
Over the years, the publication has gone beyond news reporting to play an active role in shaping regulatory frameworks, encouraging local content development and promoting industry standards.
Publisher and Chief Executive Officer, Femi Owoeye, said the organisation was driven by a clear vision from inception.

A keynote lecture titled, “Reporting the Road Ahead: Automotive Journalism as a Catalyst for Nigeria’s Auto Industry Development,” will underscore the critical role of the media in shaping the nation’s automotive landscape.
Dignitaries expected at the event include the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Jumoke Oduwole; the Director-General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council, Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin; state governors, transport commissioners and members of the diplomatic corps.
Owoeye noted that the anniversary represents more than a celebration.
“This is a tribute to resilience, strong partnerships and the collective drive that has sustained the industry. As we honour key players and reflect on our journey, we are also setting the tone for the next phase of mobility in Nigeria,” he added.
The event promises a blend of reflection, recognition and renewed commitment to advancing Nigeria’s automotive industry.
