Drama at Lagos Airport as passenger disrupts flight
Just in: FG orders withdrawal of case against Ibom Air passenger Comfort, flight ban lifted
The Federal Government has ordered the withdrawal of the case against Comfort Emmanson on an Ibom Air flight on August 10, 2025.
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, announced the decisions on Wednesday after consulting with stakeholders in the aviation sector.
Emmason was remanded in prison after the incident.
Civil societies, the public, including the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), have condemned Ibom Air and the Airline Operators of Nigeria for the poor handling of the incident.
This came as the Senate vowed heavy sanctions against the airline’s action.
According to the minister, the resolutions were reached after reviewing the incidents, considering appeals from well-meaning individuals, and considering the remorse shown by those involved.
Keyamo revealed that Ibom Air had agreed to withdraw its complaint against Ms. Emmanson, who was arrested over the August 10 incident.
“When the police took her statement in the presence of her lawyer, she exhibited great remorse for her conduct,” he said.
Following the withdrawal, the Airport Command and the police prosecutor is expected to commence action to secure her release from Kirikiri Prison.
The Airline Operators of Nigeria has also agreed to lift the lifetime flying ban placed on her, with details to be announced later.
