supply stabilization
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has announced a fresh increase in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), popularly known as petrol, in two of Nigeria’s major cities — Lagos and Abuja.
Checks at NNPC retail outlets on Tuesday confirmed that petrol is now selling at ₦835 per litre in Lagos and ₦839 per litre in Abuja, marking another upward review in fuel prices amid ongoing changes in the downstream oil sector.

The latest adjustment comes as players in the oil and gas market respond to rising supply costs, exchange rate pressures, and recent pricing decisions by the Dangote Petroleum Refinery, which have continued to influence pump prices nationwide.
Although the Federal Government maintains that petrol pricing has been fully deregulated following the removal of fuel subsidy, the frequent adjustments by NNPCL remain a major concern for Nigerians already grappling with rising transportation fares and increased cost of living.
Industry analysts warn that the new prices could trigger further hikes in transport costs, food prices, and other essential services, particularly in urban centres where fuel consumption is highest.
As of the time of filing this report, NNPCL has not issued a formal nationwide price template, but market watchers expect variations across other states depending on logistics and supply factors.
