Kano Govt Approves 200 Riyals, Ihram Package for 2026 Hajj Pilgrims

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the distribution of 200 Saudi Riyals and Ihram materials to every intending pilgrim from the state participating in the 2026 Hajj exercise. The gesture is part of efforts by the state government to support pilgrims financially and improve their overall experience during the holy pilgrimage.

The announcement was made on Sunday by Deputy Governor Murtala Sule Garo while representing the governor at the opening of a practical orientation exercise organised by the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board for prospective pilgrims.

Speaking at the event, Garo explained that the training programme was designed to properly prepare intending pilgrims for the various stages of Hajj rites. These include Ihram, Tawaf, Sa’i, Arafat, Muzdalifah, Mina, and the symbolic stoning of the Jamarat. He emphasized that proper understanding of these rituals is essential for a successful and spiritually fulfilling pilgrimage.

He further noted that the administration of Governor Yusuf remains fully committed to protecting and enhancing the welfare of pilgrims from Kano State. According to him, Hajj is not just a journey of travel but a sacred act of worship that requires discipline, patience, knowledge, and sincere devotion to Allah.

The deputy governor also formally announced the welfare package approved by the state government. He stated that each intending pilgrim will receive 200 Saudi Riyals alongside Ihram clothing materials as a complimentary support initiative from the governor.

Garo further disclosed that the state government has secured comfortable accommodation arrangements for Kano pilgrims in Saudi Arabia to ensure a stress-free and well-organised stay throughout the pilgrimage period.

In addition, he revealed that trained medical personnel have been deployed to work alongside the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) to provide healthcare support for pilgrims. Qualified Islamic scholars will also accompany the pilgrims to offer continuous spiritual guidance during the exercise.

He urged all intending pilgrims to maintain discipline, obey the laws of Saudi Arabia, and conduct themselves responsibly throughout the pilgrimage. According to him, it is important for pilgrims to reflect positively on Kano State and Nigeria through good behaviour, humility, and respect for regulations.

Garo concluded by encouraging participants to see themselves as ambassadors of the state, stressing that their conduct during the Hajj exercise would represent both Kano State and the country at large.
