The Igbo Youths for Positive Change has told the Indigenous People of Biafra and the people of Anambra not to cry for the criminal elements reportedly being killed by security operatives in some parts of Anambra State.
The group said the governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, cannot fold his arms and watch hoodlums masquerading to be “unknown gunmen” turn Anambra into a killing field.
In a statement made available to journalists in Awka on Thursday, the group’s National President, Chinedu Obigwe, said Soludo’s target is to ensure that Anambra is safe and completely freed from the grip of criminals so that the state will turn to a liveable and prosperous homeland.
Obigwe in the statement, titled, ‘Re: Stop military from slaughtering your people – IPOB warns Soludo’, said the security agents were only dealing with the “unknown gunmen” and not after the innocent people.

Obigwe was reacting to the criticisms trailing the alleged extrajudicial killings of some youths in the state by security operatives in their commitment to rid the state of criminals as directed by the state governor.
He said, “My reaction to the above referred news report is that he or she that fetches ant infested firewood gave invitation to lizard and should carry his cross.
‘One thing that is working for Soludo in his justified war against these hoodlums masquerading to be ‘unknown gunmen’ is that he gave them chance to turn from their evil ways but they foolishly believed that they can overpower his government hence their reason for rejecting his peaceful overtures to them.
‘Security agents are not after innocent people but they are determined to deal mercilessly with the criminals masquerading to be ‘unknown gunmen’ and that is exactly what they are doing.
The group also commended the people that are cooperating with the security agents through the provision of useful information.
The statement read in part, “Soludo and our security agents are doing well in their war against the hoodlums masquerading to be ‘unknown gunmen’ and they deserve to be commended.
“The fight against these heartless hoodlums is a collective fight and not something that will be left in the hands of security agents alone. Ndi Anambra must win this war for the good of our beloved state.”
