Fuji music legend Otunba Wasiu Ayinde Adesanya, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate (KWAM1)
Fuji music legend and Olori Omooba of Ijebuland, Wasiu Ayinde (KWAM 1), has expressed concern over what he describes as attempts by Fusengbuwa Ruling House to exclude him from the nomination process for the next Awujale of Ijebuland.
In a letter addressed to Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, KWAM 1, reportedly from Fidipote Ruling House, claimed that the ruling house next in line to produce the new Awujale has been making decisions that contravene the Chieftaincy Declaration, Obas and Chiefs Law of Ogun State 2021.
The Fusengbuwa Ruling House resumed the nomination process on January 12, 2026, at Ijebu Ode, headquarters of Ijebu Ode Local Government, following an earlier suspension. Several princes had expressed interest in succeeding the late Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, who passed away on July 13, 2025, after 65 years on the throne.
KWAM 1’s concerns were outlined in a letter dated January 8, 2026, sent via his lawyer, Dr Wahab Shittu, SAN, to Governor Abiodun. Previously, the musician had sought an interim injunction at the Ogun State High Court, Ijebu Ode, to halt the selection process, but the court declined the request, and the suit was eventually withdrawn without explanation.

In the recent communication, KWAM 1 noted that a letter from the Ijebu Ode Local Government Secretary, Oke Adebanjo, dated January 6, 2026, had formally granted the Fusengbuwa Ruling House approval to conduct the nomination within 14 days starting from that date. However, he expressed surprise at a notice from the ruling house spokesman, Prince Adeleye Ademuyiwa, instructing candidates to collect nomination cards and appear before a screening committee, which set the exercise for January 12.
“It is a matter of deep concern to our client that all these directives, which contravene the Chieftaincy Declaration, Obas and Chiefs Law, and the letter from the Secretary of Ijebu-Ode Local Government, were included in the family’s letter dated January 6, 2026,” the letter stated.
KWAM 1’s legal team argued that the directives appear to disenfranchise members of the ruling house who wish to participate in the nomination, adding that all members are entitled to attend and nominate candidates of their choice. The letter emphasised that screening and nomination by delegates contradict the spirit and letter of Ogun State’s 2021 Chieftaincy Law.
The musician’s team urged timely intervention to ensure due process, fairness, and transparency in selecting the next Awujale, protecting KWAM 1’s rights as a member of Fidipote Ruling House.
