Raphinha Double Fires Barcelona Past Real Madrid to Spanish Super Cup Glory

Barcelona edged out Real Madrid in a dramatic five-goal El Clásico showdown to win the Spanish Super Cup for the second consecutive year in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The victory marked Barcelona’s 16th Spanish Super Cup title, as Hansi Flick’s side repeated last year’s final triumph over Los Blancos, extending their recent dominance in the competition.

Brazilian forward Raphinha proved decisive, scoring twice, with his 73rd-minute floated strike sealing the win after a chaotic first half that saw three goals in stoppage time.

Raphinha had earlier opened the scoring in the 36th minute, drilling a low shot into the bottom corner. Vinícius Júnior equalised deep into first-half stoppage time, producing a brilliant solo run that included a nutmeg on Jules Koundé before finishing coolly — his first goal for Real Madrid in 17 games.

Barcelona regained the lead through Robert Lewandowski, who clipped the ball in off the post early in the second half. However, Gonzalo García responded almost immediately for Real Madrid, hooking in from close range after Dean Huijsen’s header struck the crossbar during a goalmouth scramble.

The match boiled over late on when Frenkie de Jong was shown a straight red card in stoppage time for a lunging challenge on Kylian Mbappé, who made a substitute appearance after recovering from a knee injury.

Both sides created late chances in a tense finale, with Marcus Rashford firing wide when through on goal, while Álvaro Carreras and Raúl Asencio tested goalkeeper Joan García, who stood firm.

Despite the pressure, Barcelona held on to secure back-to-back Spanish Super Cup titles, achieving the feat for the first time since 2011.
