Lady arrested in Delta for allegedly luring teenagers into prostitution abroad
A lady allegedly involved in the trafficking of teenage girls in Eku, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, has been arrested by the police.
It was gathered that the lady , who runs a tailoring shop, had trafficked several girls to neighbouring Africa countries for prostitution.
Residents said she belongs to a ring behind female trafficking in the country, adding that she targeted girls who came to patronize her shop.
” When girls came to make clothes from her she told them she could arrange for them to travel out of the country. She persuaded them and put pictures in their heads.”, a source said.
Sources told Vanguard that the lady recruited several teenage girls in the community for syndicate groups that traffic them to neighbouring Africa countries for prostitution.

According to Ovo, a resident in the area , she lied to the girls that she had links overseas to provide them with good jobs.
Vanguard gathered that some parents of the girls had been coming to demand for the whereabout of their daughters before the arrest.
” Her arrest did not come as a surprise because some parents have been troubling her to produce their daughters. There was a particular girl who confided in a member of the family before she embarked on the journey. She told the member of the family that the lady was the one that linked her to the people she was traveling with “, Ovo added
A police source at the Abraka police division confirmed the arrest to the Vanguard, saying the lady had been moved to the Police headquarters for further interrogation.
