Lagos SWAN berates Iheanacho over unruly behaviour
The Sports Writers’ Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Lagos Chapter, on Saturday berated Super Eagles’ striker, Kelechi Iheanacho over his disrespect to a journalist, Yinka Oyedele of Brila FM, during an encounter in Lagos.
Iheanacho’s attitude, according to a statement by Lagos SWAN’s Chairman, Debo Oshundun, was unsportsmanlike.
“The attention of SWAN Lagos Chapter has been drawn to Super Eagles’ striker Kelechi Iheanacho’s disrespect to one of our members, Yinka Oyedele of Brila FM.
“Oyedele, according to our findings, was arrogantly shoved off by the Leicester City forward while the reporter was making an attempt to interview him after the team’s training on Tuesday.
“Lagos SWAN frowns at this embarrassing act and disrespect to a journalist.
“Oyedele, a professional in the practice, doesn’t deserve such ill treatment from Iheanacho or any national team player,” he said.
Oshundun added “We urge the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to as a matter of urgency call the player to order.
“It is also not out place for the football house to educate the players on etIquette and relationship with the men of the fourth estate of the realm and fans alike.
“Such measures if put in place would prevent future occurrence.
“The Super Eagles take a prime place in every Nigerian journalists’ hearts and treatment such as this can only discourage reporters from doing more and giving their best for the course of our darling national team.
“We wish the senior national team and Iheanacho the best of luck in their reverse 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixture against Central Africa Republic on Sunday,” he said. (NAN)

The award certificate issued by Brad Raffensperger, Secretary of State of the State of Georgia, reads: “May this outstanding citizen be offered every courtesy as a Goodwill Ambassador from Georgia in her travels to other states, to nations beyond the borders of the United States of America, or wherever she may hereafter travel or reside. Thank you for your service to our state.”
A female Senator from Georgia, who presented the award, praised Helen Paul, who had recently completed training as Substitute Teacher, ‘as an asset to the people of Georgia’.

She stated, “Everybody is touched by a professor or someone who creates an atmosphere for learning. Thank you so much for being a public servant to a point that you pour out so much to educate people.” Prof Helen, an Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ambassador, earned the award shortly after joining a Nigerian delegation to observe the US presidential election won by former president Donald Trump.
Prince Ero, the CEO of Waterlight Initiative, was also part of the team.

Popular Nollywood actress and filmmaker Mercy Aigbe has shared insights into her decision to marry popular movie marketer Kazim Adeoti, also known as Adekaz.

Aigbe’s 2023 cinema movie, Ada Omo Daddy, has already showcased the synergy between her and Adeoti, marking her successful cinema debut. Reflecting on the project’s reception, she said, “The feedback was amazing. I was a bit nervous as it was my first cinema debut, and there was heavy competition from established names in the cinema sector. But I was confident because I knew I had a sellable product.”
Aigbe also added that her intention is to be on all platforms she can make money from.
“I wont just be on cinemas I will be on all paltforms I can make money from”
