Lagos University Launches Academic Programme on Tinubu’s Leadership, Policies
Ikorodu — The Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) is set to inaugurate a groundbreaking academic programme focused on the politics, leadership style, and policy direction of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The initiative aims to strengthen political education and groom future leaders through structured ideological training.
The programme will be hosted under the newly established Bola Ahmed Tinubu Institute of Politics and Policies, following a partnership between LASUSTECH and the BAT Ideological Group. The collaboration creates a formal platform for political leadership development, governance studies, and ideological orientation within a university setting.
The agreement was reached during a strategic meeting attended by key leaders of the BAT Ideological Group, including convener Bamidele Atoyebi, Patron Alhaji Tejumade Isa Onirin, Oyo State coordinator Professor Fayomi Oluyemi, and woman leader Dr Bisi Akin Alabi. LASUSTECH’s delegation was led by Vice-Chancellor Professor Olumuyiwa Omotola Odusanya, alongside Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Abiodun Denloye, Registrar Mr David Ogungbe, Bursar Mr Oki Olashile, and Dean of Student Affairs Engr Owoeye Olaniyi David.

Speaking after the meeting, Atoyebi revealed that the institute is intended to function as a national centre for political training, leadership development, and governance research. Academic and professional activities are expected to begin within two to three months, with LASUSTECH already providing a temporary facility for immediate commencement while plans for a permanent structure are underway.
The institute will offer Diploma, Master’s, and Doctoral programmes, as well as professional certifications, fellowships, and targeted ideological training for both aspiring and established political actors nationwide. Atoyebi described the initiative as a landmark development in Nigeria’s academic and political history, noting that it will be the first university-based political institution in the country named after a sitting President.
He emphasized that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu represents “not merely a political figure, but an institution of leadership, ideology, and governance whose political philosophy warrants academic interrogation and institutional preservation.”
Atoyebi also praised LASUSTECH for its bold and forward-thinking leadership and lauded the BAT Ideological Group for promoting political education, ideological clarity, and democratic development in Nigeria.
