PDP holds late-night national caucus meeting in Abuja
Makinde, Bala Mohammed, Turaki Force Wike Faction Out of PDP National Secretariat Amid Power Struggle
A renewed power tussle within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) escalated on Monday as Governors Seyi Makinde and Bala Mohammed, along with the newly elected National Chairman, Taminu Turaki, reportedly forced out the faction loyal to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike from the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
The incident unfolded after both camps scheduled parallel meetings at the PDP National Secretariat, heightening tension and triggering a confrontation that resulted in a violent scuffle.
The National Working Committee (NWC) elected at the Ibadan convention and the Wike-backed faction had planned their meetings for the same day, creating a direct power clash.

Despite the disruption, Makinde, Bala Mohammed and Turaki successfully entered the PDP NEC Hall and proceeded with their scheduled National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.
The development marks a major escalation in the internal crisis rocking the PDP, as the Makinde-Turaki-led leadership asserts control over party structures while the Wike faction continues to challenge their legitimacy.
