NAF airstrike neutralizes another notorious terrorist, ‘Ali Kachalla’, others in Niger
NAF airstrike neutralizes another notorious terrorist, ‘Ali Kachalla’, others in Niger
Strong evidence has emerged that infamous terrorist leader Ali Kawaje, also known as Ali Kachalla, was eliminated on Monday through airstrikes carried out by the NAF near Mangoro in Munya LGA of Niger State.
This is coming following the confirmation by the Nigerian Air Force on Sunday of the elimination of deadly terrorist kingpin Yellow Jambros through airstrikes.
The air component of Operation Whirl Punch was notified and NAF aircraft were quickly dispatched to assist troops in distress after Ali Kachalla and his foot soldiers reportedly attacked a detachment of security personnel stationed at Mangoro Community in Munya LGA of Niger State.
“Overhead the location, Kachalla and his foot soldiers were sighted withdrawing from the operatives’ location on 11 motorcycles.
“But unknown to them, they were being trailed to their hideout near Kopa Hills, where they took cover under a thick tree covering.
“It was at this point that the air strikes were authorized, which were decisive and swift, thereby ensuring effective and maximum damage to the terrorists.”

Sources around the location, as well as locals around the vicinity, revealed that several of the terrorists, including the terrorist Kingpin Ali Kachalla, were eliminated as a result of the strike.
“News of Kachalla’s demise has already led to jubilation in Mangoro and surroundings, with many locals praying for the same outcome for Dogo Gidei, whose notorious activities have continued to inflict unimaginable injuries on their well-being and livelihoods,” sources said.
When contacted about the development, NAF spokesperson, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet disclosed that he was still waiting to receive a brief about the air strike.
The strike comes barely 24 hours after the NAF confirmed the elimination of another deadly terrorist kingpin, Yellow Jambros.
Should this momentum continue, perhaps the reign of these terrorists and the foot soldiers may come to an end sooner rather than later.
Recall that Ali Kachalla is a terror kingpin whose footsoldiers shut down a NAF jet through the use of heavy artillery weapons on June 18, 2023.
The fighter jet was shot down near Kabaru village, located some 15 km west of Dansadau town.

Nigerian Army Suspends Retirements for Officers Amid Nationwide Security Emergency
Nigerian Army Suspends Retirements for Officers Amid Nationwide Security Emergency
The Nigerian Army has temporarily frozen both statutory and voluntary retirements for certain officers, including Generals, following the nationwide security emergency declared by President Bola Tinubu. The decision aims to bolster manpower as the country faces a surge in kidnappings and worsening insecurity.
The move comes after more than 600 abduction cases were reported in November 2025, including the kidnapping of over 300 students in Niger State, 38 worshippers in Kwara State, and 25 students in Kebbi State.
An internal circular dated December 3 and signed by Maj. Gen. E. I. Okoro on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff cited provisions in the Harmonised Terms and Conditions of Service Officers (HTACOS) 2024, allowing service extensions “in the interest of the service.” The memo explains that officers usually retire upon reaching age limits, completing 35 years of service, or failing promotion/conversion boards, but these rules can be overridden during national emergencies.

The suspension affects officers who have:
- Failed promotion examinations three times
- Been passed over repeatedly at promotion boards
- Reached rank age limits
- Failed conversion boards thrice
- Completed 35 years of service
Officers granted extensions will remain in service but will not be eligible for further promotions, courses, secondments, or extra-regimental appointments. Those unwilling to continue can still proceed with standard exit procedures.
Commanders have been instructed to communicate the directive and manage morale across units, with the policy to be reviewed once national security conditions improve.
