NAF destroys IED factory, terrorists gun trucks in Borno

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on Thursday said it destroyed a suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) factory and gun trucks belonging to terrorists in Kwaltiri, located within the Tumbuktu Triangle of Borno State.

The airstrike was conducted under Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.

According to a statement issued by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Edward Ejidome, the operation followed actionable intelligence that indicated heightened terrorist activities in the area.

“Surveillance confirmed the presence of an IED-making site and vehicles, which were struck in precision passes by NAF aircraft,” Ejidome said.

He noted that the airstrikes killed several fighters and destroyed the logistical and operational capacity of the terror groups in the region.

“The operation is a major blow to terrorists’ fighting capabilities, as the successful strikes not only disrupted their command and control as well as logistics chains but also sent shockwaves through their ranks, significantly degrading their morale and operational momentum,” he added.

While no specific casualty figure was disclosed, the military said it will sustain aerial dominance to curb insurgency and improve security in the Northeast.
