Nigerian man stabs professor father to death, attacks sisters in U.S domestic assault

A 27-year-old Nigerian man, Chukwuebuka Eweni, has been arrested in New Orleans, United States, for allegedly stabbing his father to death and injuring his two sisters during a violent domestic incident on Pebble Street.

Family members identified the deceased as Professor Samuel Eweni, a computer science lecturer at Southern University at New Orleans, while confirming that the two injured victims were his daughters.

Relatives described the attack as sudden and tragic, noting that the suspect had a history of mental illness but had never displayed violent tendencies.

According to WWL Louisiana, one of the sisters has been discharged from hospital, while the second remains under medical care but is expected to recover.

In a statement, the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) confirmed that officers responded to a distress call at 9:59 p.m. on November 11, 2025, regarding “an aggravated battery by cutting believed to be domestic in nature.”

Upon arrival, officers found Professor Eweni unresponsive with fatal stab wounds, while his two daughters also suffered knife injuries.

Police disclosed that the suspect was later located in Jefferson Parish and is currently in custody undergoing medical evaluation.

Detectives confirmed that an arrest warrant has been issued for one count of second-degree murder and two counts of attempted second-degree murder, warning that Eweni was initially considered armed and dangerous.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release the official cause of death after an autopsy and notification of next of kin.
