Nigerian Navy Redeploys 65 Rear Admirals in Major Shake-Up
The Nigerian Navy has announced a sweeping reorganisation involving the appointment and redeployment of 65 Rear Admirals across various commands and institutions, in a move aimed at boosting operational efficiency and repositioning the service for enhanced performance.
The shake-up, approved by the newly appointed Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, marks one of the most extensive personnel realignments in recent years. According to a statement issued by Naval Headquarters, the changes are designed to strengthen the Navy’s strategic posture and better fulfil its constitutional mandate.
Among the key appointments:
Rear Admiral Suleiman Abdullahi, formerly at Defence Headquarters, is now Chief of Logistics at NHQ.
Rear Admiral Kasim Bushi moves from NAVTRAC to the International Maritime Institute of Nigeria (IMION) as Executive Director.
Rear Admiral Suleiman Dahun becomes Director of Defence Cooperation at DHQ.
Rear Admiral Anenechukwu Ezenma is now Director, Lesson Learnt at DHQ.
Rear Admiral Samuel Ngatuwa assumes the role of Director of Project Management at DHQ.
Rear Admiral Ibrahim Shehu retains his position as Admiral Superintendent, Naval Dockyard Limited.

Vice Admiral Abbas congratulated the newly appointed officers and urged them to recommit to duty, uphold professionalism, and justify the confidence reposed in them. The Navy, he said, remains focused on its mission to safeguard Nigeria’s maritime domain and contribute to national security.
