Nnamdi Kanu’s release: Ohanaeze seeks meeting with Tinubu – Iwuanyanwu
Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has revealed the organization’s intent to engage in discussions with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to advocate for the immediate release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). This announcement was made during a courtesy visit by Iwuanyanwu to the leadership of the Supreme Council of Nigeria Traditional Rulers, Southeast chapter.
Iwuanyanwu expressed the urgency of the matter, emphasizing that the continued detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has contributed to escalating insecurity in the Southeast region. He highlighted the need for swift action to restore peace and stability in Igboland and intended to seek President Tinubu’s support.

Eze Dr. Oliver Ohanwe, the traditional ruler of Isiama ancient kingdom in Imo State, expressed his organization’s desire to collaborate with Ohanaeze and underscored the importance of securing Nnamdi Kanu’s release. He believes this will play a pivotal role in addressing security challenges in the region and fostering a harmonious cultural identity among the Igbo ethnic group.
Furthermore, the leaders emphasized their intent to engage with President Tinubu and other prominent Nigerians to address the continued marginalization of the Igbo ethnic group. This includes addressing the injustice of Nnamdi Kanu’s ongoing detention despite a court order for his immediate release.
