Nollywood Actor Ijoba Lande Alleges Police Brutality, Theft in Lagos

Nollywood actor and skit maker Ganiyu Kehinde Morufu, popularly known as Ijoba Lande, has accused officers of the Nigeria Police Force of brutally assaulting him and seizing his valuables shortly after his return to Lagos State from the United Kingdom.

In a widely circulated video on social media, Ijoba Lande claimed that the alleged attack occurred just six days after he arrived in Nigeria, involving officers from the Area “J” Police Division. He appeared in the footage with visible injuries and bleeding around his eye, while bystanders rushed to pour water on his face.

“I came back from the UK 6 days ago and was attacked and beaten by police in Nigeria. They collected my iPhone 16 Pro Max and my brother’s $1,200. I nearly lost my life,” he wrote in his post, describing the shocking encounter.

According to Ijoba Lande, the officers physically assaulted him and confiscated both his phone and money belonging to his brother. The actor has not detailed what led to the confrontation, but he reportedly sought to file a complaint following the incident.

The Nigeria Police Force has not yet released an official statement in response to the allegations or confirmed whether an internal investigation has been initiated. Meanwhile, the actor’s claims have stirred widespread outrage online, reigniting conversations about police brutality and accountability in Nigeria.

Ijoba Lande, known for his comedic skits and Yoruba Nollywood productions, enjoys a massive following on platforms like Instagram and TikTok, amplifying the reach of his allegations.
