Nollywood in Mourning as Family Confirms Death of Actress Aunty Ajara

The family of popular Nollywood actress Aunty Ajara, whose real name is Ajara Lasisi, has confirmed her death, bringing an end to weeks of concern over her health among fans and colleagues in the Nigerian film industry.

In a statement released on Thursday, the family disclosed that the actress passed away in the early hours of the day after battling a prolonged illness. The confirmation was made by her elder brother, Ridwan Lasisi, who expressed gratitude to Nigerians for the prayers, financial support, and goodwill shown during her health struggles.

Aunty Ajara, widely known for her comic roles in Yoruba Nollywood movies, had recently been at the centre of public appeals for assistance as her condition reportedly worsened. Several actors, producers, and fans rallied support online, raising funds to help with her medical care. Following her passing, the family urged the public to discontinue all donations, stating that assistance was no longer required.
