Troops Repel Coordinated Attacks in Borno, Kill 25 Terrorists, Soldier Dies

Nigerian troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have killed 25 suspected Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters, lost one soldier, and wounded several others while repelling coordinated terrorist attacks in Limankara and Kukawa, Borno State, military sources confirmed. The intense clashes, which erupted on the night of February 20, 2026, underscore the growing pressure on insurgent camps, logistics networks, and leadership in the region.

Lt. Col. Sani Uba, Media Information Officer of JTF OPHK, said that troops also conducted precision operations in Lamusheri Village, Gujba Local Government Area, a known terrorist hub and logistics base. Supported by air surveillance and intelligence gathering, troops destroyed defensive structures, neutralised 15 insurgents, and recovered or destroyed weapons, ammunition, and vehicles. Several militants fled with gunshot injuries.

Earlier, terrorists attempted to infiltrate the Forward Operating Base (FOB) at Limankara, but alert troops engaged them in a fierce firefight. Combined ground and air support forced the attackers to retreat, leaving behind casualties and abandoned equipment. No soldiers were injured during this engagement.

In Kukawa, insurgents launched a multi-pronged assault using gun trucks, motorcycles, and foot soldiers, approaching from multiple axes. Troops mounted a determined defence, supported by air strikes, which destroyed a gun truck, five motorcycles, and neutralised ten additional fighters. Recovered items included rifles, loaded magazines, radios, stretchers, and shallow graves left by fleeing insurgents.

While one gallant soldier lost his life, others who sustained gunshot injuries are receiving treatment and are in stable condition, military sources said. Lt. Col. Uba commended the troops for their discipline, courage, and operational excellence, noting that the operations have significantly degraded the capacity of terrorist groups in the North-East.

The officer emphasized that sustained air-ground coordination continues to deny insurgents freedom of movement, disrupt logistics routes, and force them into chaotic withdrawals, enhancing the safety of local communities. Analysts say these operations reflect a growing reliance on intelligence-driven, technology-supported counter-terrorism strategies to dismantle insurgent networks in Borno State and the wider North-East region.

Troops Kill 15 Terrorists, Destroy Logistics Hub in Yobe Using Satellite Intelligence

Nigerian troops under Operation DESERT SANITY V have neutralised 15 suspected terrorists and dismantled a key logistics base near Lamusheri Village in Gujba Local Government Area, Yobe State, military sources confirmed. The precision strike, carried out on February 22, 2026, followed weeks of intelligence gathering using satellite imagery and airborne reconnaissance, which identified the location as a major terrorist attack launch point and logistics hub.

According to military officials, troops, working alongside the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), advanced on the site early Saturday morning. The insurgents opened fire as the soldiers approached, but the troops tactically outflanked the militants and blocked all escape routes before engaging in a fierce firefight.

During the confrontation, 15 terrorists were killed, while several others reportedly fled with suspected gunshot injuries. Security forces discovered extensive defensive structures at the site and destroyed all life-support facilities used by the militants, significantly weakening their operational capability.

The operation also involved the destruction of five tricycles and two vehicles allegedly used for attacks and logistical support. Both vehicles and their contents were set ablaze. Troops recovered a cache of arms and ammunition, along with bandoliers and camel pouches, which are being analysed to aid further operations.

Two soldiers sustained minor gunshot wounds but are in stable condition, officials said. Despite the success of the operation, the military described the general security situation in the area as calm but unpredictable, emphasizing continued vigilance.

The military highlighted that the operation demonstrates the growing role of technology in counter-terrorism, including satellite intelligence and surveillance platforms, to track insurgent hideouts and disrupt terrorist networks in Nigeria’s North-East region. Local residents welcomed the strike, noting that it would help reduce the threat posed by insurgents to nearby communities.

This operation underscores the Nigerian Armed Forces’ commitment to tackling insurgency and securing civilian populations while highlighting the strategic advantage of integrating modern surveillance technology into ground operations.

Deadly Boko Haram Attack on Adamawa Military Camp Leaves Soldiers, Civilian Dead

Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have launched a deadly attack on a military camp in Garaha District, Hong Local Government Area, Adamawa State, leaving three Nigerian soldiers and a civilian woman dead. The attackers also razed a primary school and destroyed other key infrastructure, local eyewitnesses and community leaders reported.

The assault occurred late Saturday night, February 21, when the militants stormed the area, firing sporadically and catching security personnel off guard. Eyewitness Isaiah Yerima said the soldiers fought back bravely but were ultimately overpowered after insurgents launched a rear ambush through the Lar axis, leading to the deaths of three soldiers. A civilian woman was struck by a stray bullet while attempting to flee the gunfire.

According to residents, the insurgents looted weapons, including an armoured vehicle, and set fire to the military camp before fleeing. “As I’m speaking, no structure is left at the military base except the Living Faith Church,” Yerima said, describing the scale of the destruction. The attack also destroyed the local primary school, further compounding the tragedy for the community.

Another witness suggested the military initially repelled the attackers but was overwhelmed by the coordinated assault from behind, highlighting possible gaps in security and the need for a thorough investigation. Community leaders and residents have urged authorities to strengthen the protection of vulnerable military installations and civilian communities in Adamawa State.

The Paramount Ruler of Huba land, Tol Barr Alheri Bulus, confirmed the attack and said that further details would be provided as they became available. Neither the Nigerian Army nor the Police Force had issued official statements at the time of filing this report.

This assault is the latest in a series of Boko Haram and allied militant attacks in Adamawa and other North-East states, which have repeatedly targeted communities and military formations, resulting in civilian casualties, destruction of property, and looting of weapons. Security experts warn that the persistent attacks highlight ongoing security challenges in Nigeria’s North-East, despite military efforts under Operation Hadin Kai to disrupt insurgent logistics and arrest collaborators.
