The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) says it has successful recovered both the locomotive and a passenger coach involved in accident on Tuesday on Abuja-Kaduna railway corridor.
Managing Director of the NRC, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, was at the site on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, to personally supervise the ongoing recovery operations.
Opeifa, alongside a dedicated team of NRC recovery engineers, monitored the careful retrieval of one of the affected coaches, marking a major step forward in the corporation’s swift response efforts.
Speaking at the scene, Opeifa commended the engineers for their professionalism, resilience, and tireless work since the incident occurred.
He also expressed deep appreciation to the security agencies for maintaining order and safety throughout the operation, enabling a smooth and efficient recovery process.
Opeifa extended his gratitude to the media for their continued partnership, underscoring the importance of sharing verified, factual information to keep the public accurately informed.
“The role of the media in disseminating credible updates cannot be overstated. It’s crucial that Nigerians understand both the challenges and the progress we’re making,” he noted.
The NRC has reassured passengers and the general public that all necessary measures are being taken to restore train services as quickly as possible.
According to the NRC boss, passenger safety and reliable service delivery remain the corporation’s highest priorities.
A statement personally signed by Opeifa said as recovery efforts continued, this milestone offered renewed optimism that full operations would resume soon, reflecting the NRC’s commitment to safety, transparency, and excellence in service.
