US Congressman Riley Moore confirmed the meeting on social media, describing it as “frank, honest, and productive.” He noted that the Nigerian delegation shared the federal government’s concerns over counterterrorism, security assistance, and the protection of vulnerable communities.

Moore emphasised the urgency of addressing violence against Christians in Nigeria, particularly in the North-East and Middle Belt regions. “The United States must see tangible steps to ensure that Christians are not subjected to violence, persecution, displacement, or death simply for their faith,” he said.

He further stated that the US is prepared to collaborate with Nigeria to combat terrorism perpetrated by Boko Haram, ISWAP, and Fulani militants, stressing that Nigeria has the opportunity to strengthen its diplomatic and security relationship with the United States.

“I urge the Nigerians to work with us in cooperation and coordination on this critical issue,” Moore added, reaffirming the US commitment to ending violence against Christians and dismantling terrorist networks in Nigeria.
