The Comptroller explained that the operation is part of a broader crackdown on smuggling networks that threaten public safety and the security of communities across Nigeria. All confiscated items have been safely secured, and investigations are ongoing to determine the origin and intended recipients of the weapons.

The Ogun Command reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing Nigerian Customs regulations and collaborating with other security agencies to prevent the circulation of dangerous arms and explosives. The service warned that individuals caught attempting to smuggle weapons or explosives will face severe penalties under Nigerian law, signaling the government’s zero-tolerance approach to illegal arms trafficking.

Security analysts have described the seizure as a significant achievement for national security, particularly in a region where illicit arms have fueled criminal activity and insecurity. The operation demonstrates the importance of proactive border enforcement and intelligence-driven interventions in safeguarding lives and property.
