Olanipekun Urges Yoruba to Prepare for Post-Tinubu Era in South-West Politics

An erstwhile president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), has called on the Yoruba people to begin preparing for a post-Tinubu era, emphasizing the need for strategic planning, unity, and visionary leadership to secure the region’s political influence.

Speaking at a recent political forum, Olanipekun noted that while President Bola Tinubu continues to play a dominant role in national and South-West politics, the Yoruba nation must anticipate the political landscape beyond his tenure. He warned that relying solely on Tinubu’s influence could jeopardize the region’s future political gains.

According to Olanipekun, proactive preparation is crucial to maintain Yoruba influence in governance, ensure continuity of leadership, and foster sustainable development. He urged Yoruba leaders, political parties, and civil society groups to collaborate on long-term strategies that promote mentorship, youth inclusion, and capacity building for the next generation of leaders.

He emphasized that the post-Tinubu political framework should prioritize strategic alliances, grassroots mobilization, and empowering young leaders capable of navigating Nigeria’s evolving political environment. Olanipekun also highlighted the importance of leveraging infrastructure development and socio-economic initiatives to strengthen the Yoruba’s position in national affairs.

His remarks come amid ongoing discussions in South-West political circles about succession planning, regional unity, and ensuring the Yoruba retain a strong voice in Nigeria’s political future after Tinubu’s administration.

Olanipekun’s call serves as a timely reminder that proactive planning and leadership development are essential to secure the Yoruba people’s influence in Nigeria’s post-Tinubu political landscape.
