Oluwo appeals to NEMA for intervention as rainstorms wreak havoc in Iwo
The Paramount Ruler of Iwoland, HIM Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, has appealed to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), to come to the aid of the victims of rainstorm in Iwo.
It could be recalled that the first rain heralding a new season two days ago was accompanied with thunderous storm destroying properties including schools, electric poles, houses, shops and some public assets in Iwo.
Oluwo, while commiserating with the victims, called on the authority of NEMA, the federal and state governments to come to the aid of affected individuals.
Oba Akanbi described the damage done by the storm as monumental which has paralyzed commercial activities in the ancient town. He disclosed that forty electric poles were broken which have prevented electricity supply to Iwo and grossly hampered economic activities.
He further revealed the incident has rendered hundreds of people homeless and many goods damaged during the heavy storm.
