Former presidential aide Reno Omokri has expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following his nomination as an ambassador-designate, describing the appointment as a lesson in forgiveness and patriotism.
Omokri, once a vocal critic of Tinubu, was listed among over 30 Nigerians announced at the weekend as ambassadorial nominees. Reacting in a Facebook post on Sunday, the former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan said he looks forward to serving Nigeria with renewed commitment.
“I thank God Almighty for this nomination and look forward to serving my fatherland and humanity. I am particularly grateful to His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his visionary and exemplary leadership,” he wrote.

According to Omokri, the President’s gesture has reshaped his understanding of leadership, unity and forgiveness.
“The President has taught me the meaning of forgiveness and has helped me better understand what patriotism entails. In short, Christlikeness is demonstrated in him,” he said, adding that Tinubu is “the right man, at the right time, for the right job.”
The ambassador-designate also thanked his parents for their upbringing and praised the National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, describing him as a man in whom “all the goodness on Earth” could reside.
He further appreciated his wife, Hana, whom he described as a steadfast pillar throughout the period when “enemies of the President made me their foe” over his unwavering support for Nigeria.
Omokri concluded with prayers for President Tinubu and for the continued peace and prosperity of the country.
