Ondo Police Officer Stabbed to Death in Akure, Two Suspects Arrested
The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the tragic death of a police officer who was stabbed during a confrontation with two men in the Arakale area of Akure, the state capital.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, after the officer engaged in an argument with two individuals identified as Shina Jacob (25) and Felix Olalekan (32). The disagreement escalated violently, and the officer was stabbed, succumbing to his injuries despite urgent medical intervention.
Spokesperson for the command, Mr. Olayinka Ayanlade, said the police response was immediate and coordinated, resulting in the arrest of the two suspects connected to the attack. He emphasized that the follow-up operation is part of ongoing efforts to curb violent criminal activities in the state and protect public safety.

“The command confirms that an incident occurred involving a police officer performing lawful duty. Despite efforts to save him, the officer tragically passed away while receiving treatment,” Ayanlade said.
He added that investigators will finalize the case file before the suspects are formally charged in court. Ayanlade reiterated the command’s commitment to law enforcement standards and public safety, warning that anyone attacking officers on lawful duty would face firm police action.
The incident comes shortly after a separate case in which a 19-year-old mentally unstable individual reportedly killed an NSCDC officer in Ondo State, highlighting growing concerns over security and attacks on law enforcement personnel in the region.
