Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin
Lagos State Police has confirmed that one person died with many others injured during the Yoruba Nation agitators rally in the Ojota area of Lagos on Monday morning.
Spokesman for the police command, SP Benjamin Hudenyin, said only one person died in the violence that erupted at the rally.
The rally meant to press for self-determination by the group assumed a violent dimension with sporadic gunshots.
An unconfirmed report had it that three persons,including a policeman were gunned down in the cross fire.
Hudenyin said policemen immediately sent to the area to restore peace.
