Osimhen, Salah, Hakimi Make Final Three for CAF Player of the Year Award
Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has been shortlisted among the final three contenders for the prestigious CAF Player of the Year award, as the Confederation of African Football confirmed on Sunday evening.
Osimhen, who now plays for Galatasaray and won the award in 2023, will battle Mohamed Salah (Egypt/Liverpool) and Achraf Hakimi (Morocco/Paris Saint-Germain) for Africa’s top football honour. The accolade was last claimed by Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman.
Nigeria also earned recognition in the women’s category, with Rasheedat Ajibade named among the final three nominees. She will compete against Morocco duo Ghizlane Chebbak and Sanaa Mssoudy.
