Osogbo indigenes plan massive rally over political marginalisation in Osun state

Osogbo, Osun State — Preparations are in top gear for what organisers describe as a “historic and massive rally in Osogbo” scheduled to take place on Tuesday, as indigenes of the state capital intensify calls for an Osogbo-born candidate to lead Osun State.

According to a public notice circulated by organisers, the Osogbo rally is expected to commence at 8:30 a.m. at the Osogbo Township Stadium, with participants marching through Olonkoro and other major parts of the city. The organisers say the march is aimed at drawing attention to what they describe as the continuous marginalisation of Osogbo indigenes in the political leadership of the state.

They characterised the event as more than a demonstration, calling it “a movement of people who are tired of being sidelined” and seeking a future where Osogbo’s political interests are fully represented.

In the statement, organisers said the rally will serve as a platform for expressing collective demands for political inclusion in Osun State. They emphasised that the mobilisation effort is driven by concerns about rights, dignity, and the future of younger generations in Osogbo.

The notice called on residents, families, and community members to participate, stressing unity and determination as key motivations behind the planned march.

To coordinate involvement, organisers directed interested participants to contact Mustapha Adediran Tajudeen of Ward 06, Oluode Aturuku, for further information.

Security agencies have not yet issued a public advisory regarding the rally, but residents are expected to take note of possible movement restrictions as the procession passes through major roads in the state capital.

The planned Osogbo political rally adds to ongoing political conversations within Osun State as different interest groups continue to make their voices heard ahead of future political developments.
