Portable blasts Cubana Chief Priest over comments on Tinubu, Nnamdi Kanu’s detention
Controversial singer Portable has issued a fiery response to celebrity businessman Cubana Chief Priest, dismissing his recent political warning to President Bola Tinubu over the continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu.
The drama began on Thursday after Cubana Chief Priest warned that the prolonged incarceration of the IPOB leader—who was sentenced to life imprisonment on seven counts of terrorism—would damage Tinubu’s political standing in the South-East, claiming the president “will never get up to 10,000 votes” in the region in the 2027 election.
In a viral video response on Friday, Portable accused Cubana of “hypocrisy”, alleging that the nightlife mogul used his presidential access solely for personal gain, rather than advocating for Kanu’s release.

“When you went to President Bola Tinubu’s office, you went there for your self-interest. You didn’t remember to ask him to free your brother, Nnamdi Kanu,” Portable said.
He also dismissed Cubana’s electoral prediction, insisting that the South-East would still deliver votes for Tinubu. According to him, political mobilisation in the region would favour the president.
“You fought for what you wanted first, and now you’re saying Tinubu won’t get votes from the South East? You’re joking. They will use money to get votes from your people, and your people will take it,” he added.
Portable further accused the socialite of taking photos, securing contracts and benefiting financially from his visit to Tinubu, while ignoring Kanu’s plight.
“Did you collect money or not? Who told you he won’t get votes? Tinubu will be reelected,” he declared.
The exchange has sparked intense debate online, further fuelling political conversations around Nnamdi Kanu, the 2027 elections, and Tinubu’s support in the South-East.
