Over 70% of states gov election results uploaded on INEC portal

The upload of gubernatorial election results to the INEC result-viewing portal by the Independent National Election Commission (INEC) has progressed beyond 70 percent for each of the 28 states that participated in the election.

When FIJ checked the website on Monday, there was no state falling below 70 percent in the availability of the election data electronically.

While none of the states’ results had been completely uploaded, INEC had announced winners in Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Yobe, Katsina, Kano, Jigawa, Gombe, Kwara, Sokoto and Akwa Ibom.

Up to 88.44 percent of the results for Zamfara State had been uploaded when FIJ checked, while Yobe had progressed to 94.86 percent. Taraba State result was at 76.59 percent.

Sokoto and Rivers states already had 88.70 percent and 83.99 percent of their results online respectively, while Plateau was at 98.88 percent and Oyo was almost complete with 99.56 percent of its results uploaded.

Ogun State had 98.89 percent of its results on the portal, Niger State had 79.52 percent, and Nasarawa was near completion with 99.26 percent of its results uploaded. INEC had uploaded 94.75 percent of the results from Lagos State, while Kwara and Kebbi had 94.04 percent and 93.03 percent respectively.

The electronic transmission of the results was at an advanced stage for Katsina State with 94.45 percent; Kano, 78.47 percent; Kaduna, 92.29 percent; and Jigawa, 93.06 percent.

FIJ also observed that Gombe stood at 92.74 percent; Enugu, 97.76 percent; Ebonyi, 92.26 percent; and Delta, 89.43 percent. For Cross River, it was 93.11 percent.

Although INEC has not announced winners in Borno and Benue, the two states had 90.30 percent and 88.97 percent of their results on the portal respectively when FIJ checked. Results from Bauchi had got to 91.54 percent, and Akwa Ibom State had posted 87.02 percent of its results.

Adamawa State was also close to finality, as INEC had uploaded 94.62 percent of its results on the last check. Abia stood at 97.59 percent.

As the collation process continues, Nigerians appear to be eager to know who will be declared winners in strict adherence to the terms of the constitution. However, some states seem of special interest to many citizens.

Adamawa State is in that special interest zone because of Aishatu Dahiru, also known as Binani, a woman who contested on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform. Many hope she’ll become the first ever female governor-elect in Nigeria.
