Oyo 2027: Makinde Confident His Political Structure Will Retain Power

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has expressed strong confidence that the next governor of the state will emerge from his political camp, signalling an early move to shape the succession battle ahead of the 2027 Oyo governorship election.

Makinde made the declaration while speaking at a public event in Ibadan, where he reflected on his administration’s journey and future political direction as his second term draws closer to an end in May 2027. According to the governor, the political structure he has built over the years remains solid and capable of retaining power beyond his tenure.

The governor said his administration has laid a strong foundation for sustainable development across the state, adding that members of his political camp are well equipped to continue implementing policies and programmes initiated under his leadership. He stressed that continuity is crucial to sustaining the gains recorded in infrastructure, education, healthcare and economic development.
