Panic as terrorists burn woman, 2 children, daughter-in-law in Sokoto

Terrorists on Sunday evening set ablaze a mother, her daughter-in-law and two children during a fresh attack in Kurya village in the Rabah Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

According to Daily Trust, the terrorists invaded the community around 8:30 pm, killed about 12 residents and kidnapped three women during the attack.

One of the deceased persons was a woman who was burned alive together with her daughter-in-law and two children.

Yusuf Garba, a resident of the community said one of the abductees lost her spouse during the attack.

“Among the victims were one woman who was burnt to death along with her daughter-in-law and two children right inside their room,” Yusuf was quoted as saying.

He added that the terrorists later had a shootout with the army.

“We are suspecting they (terrorists) too suffered heavy losses because we saw bloodstains where they parked their motorcycles. But you know they don’t leave their corpses behind,” he added.

According to a credible source, many bandits were slain during the operation.

Meanwhile, SaharaReporters earlier reported how gunmen killed over 70 people in several communities in the Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi local government areas of Plateau State on Christmas Day.

It was learned that the gunmen who invaded the Plateau communities set several houses ablaze, looted farm produce and destroyed properties.

This was confirmed by the Transition Implementation Committee Chairman of Bokkos Local Government Area, Monday Kasa to Channel TV, revealing that the attack started on Saturday and lasted till Monday, Christmas Day.

The local government chairman went on to say that the number of casualties was growing as more bodies were recovered by the team of security personnel, local vigilantes, and hunters who were combing the bushes for missing people ambushed during the attacks.
