PDP suspends former Niger governor, Babangida Aliyu

The Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in Niger State has suspended former Governor, Dr Babangida Aliyu, over allegations of anti-party activities.

The party also accused the former governor of supporting the All Progressives Congress in the 2015 elections as well as working to disintegrate the PDP.

His suspension was announced on Monday during the party’s emergency stakeholders meeting of Chachanga Local Government Area in Minna.

The meeting was attended by eight ward chairmen of the party out of the 11 wards, elders and party faithful from Chanchaga LGA.

But responding to the suspension through Bala Bitrus, one of his media aides Aliyu, described the party’s action as laughable, adding that the state PDP does not have an executive in place to approve such suspension.

He said that the meeting held was illegal, adding that Aliyu would address the issue after receiving the communication about the reported suspension.
