Author and former media aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan has described Peter Obi as the only formidabble political oppostion figure in Nigeria right now as he has retired others who contested in the 2023 presidential election.

Okokri who is an avid critic of the former Anambra State governor said anyone parading themselves and think they are a bigger opposition is suffering delusion. He further

He expressed his admiration for Obi, who he said despite being severely flawed has trudged on.

This was in a Facebook post on Friday.

It reads, “Peter Obi is currently the Number One opposition figure in Nigeria. Bar none. Anybody in any opposition party who thinks that he is bigger than Obi right now is ‘just deluded’.

“The man, Obi, is severely flawed, but I admire how he has trudged on despite the obstacles he faces. Some people in one or two opposition parties have already been retired by Obi, but they just don’t know it yet because their money is keeping them on political life support.

“If only he could be less Igbo-centric, appeal to his Obidients to use persuasive rather than abusive words and admit, then apologise for his ‘Yes Daddy’ ‘religious war’ comment against the Muslim Ummah, he would go far. Those are his Achilles heel. He cannot cross the Rubicon without addressing them.”

Peter Obi has maintained that he’s more concerned with seeing than Nigeria work than becoming president, even though he has not ruled out contesting when the 2027 polls come around.

Terrorists kill Miyetti Allah chairman, abduct wives, daughter

Suspected terrorists have killed Alhaji Amadu Surajo, the Acting Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Katsina State, in a brutal attack on Mai Rana village, Kusada Local Government Area.

The assailants also took the lives of three others and injured several residents during the overnight raid.

According to reports, they abducted Surajo’s first and second wives along with his daughter, a university undergraduate. However, sources confirm that the first wife was later released.

Surajo, who previously served as MACBAN’s state secretary, became Acting Chairman following the mysterious disappearance of Munnir Lamido, the National Vice President of MACBAN and the Katsina State Chairman, in June 2023.

Lamido vanished while travelling to Kaduna State, and his vehicle and phones were later found near Maraban Jos. His disappearance remains unresolved.

Security operatives have been deployed to Kusada, which was previously considered a relatively peaceful area in Katsina, raising questions about whether the attack was more than an act of banditry.

The police command has yet to issue a statement on the incident. The slain MACBAN leader and the other victims will be buried according to Islamic rites, while injured survivors are receiving medical treatment.
