Petrol price hits N1,025 in Lagos
Petrol pump price remains N1,025/litre despite Dangote refinery slash
Virtually all filling stations across the country have not adjusted to the latest drop in price of petrol announced by the Dangote refinery.
Dangote Petroleum Refinery reduced the ex-depot price of petrol (Premium Motor Spirit, PMS) to N899.50 per litre from N970 per litre.
But the petrol stations in Lagos, for instance, have retained the old price range of N1,025 minimum at Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) outlets while some major marketers sell at N1,070 and independent marketers, N1,100.
The reduction in price is to provide much-needed relief for Nigerians during the holiday season, according to Dangote.
Dangote stated, “To alleviate transport costs during this holiday season, Dangote Refinery is offering a holiday discount on PMS. From today, our petrol will be available at N899.50 per litre at our truck loading gantry or SPM.
“Furthermore, for every litre purchased on a cash basis, consumers will have the opportunity to buy another litre on credit, backed by a bank guarantee from Access Bank, First Bank, or Zenith Bank”.
The refinery also expressed its gratitude to Nigerians for their continued support as the country enters the festive season.
National President of the Oil and Gas Services Providers Association of Nigeria (OGSPAN), Colman Obasi, said, “Dangote Petroleum Refinery has done well to reduce the ex-depot price of petrol. The marketers should reciprocate by ensuring that consumers benefit from it.”
