Police arrest suspects over Kano football match killings

The Kano state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Salman Dogo Garba, on Monday night, said police have made some  arrests over the killing of two people after the football match between Kano Pillars and Katsina United at Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata, Kano, on Sunday.

The Kano police boss vowed to more suspects would be arrested and all the hoodlums involved in the dastardly acts would be prosecuted.

“As I speak to you, we are writing a report on it. Many people have been arrested; and we are moving all out to ensure the arrest and prosecution of all the hoodlums involved,” he told our correspondent on telephone.

Our correspondent reports that a group of violent youths numbering over 100 invaded Zango, Kofar Mata, Yakasai and Rimi communities, looting shops and residential houses.

During their deadly clash with  a rival gang of hoodlums, two people were killed.

Residents and business owners within the communities are currently counting their losses.
