The Nigeria Police Force has arrested seven suspected terrorists in connection with a recent terror attack in Oyo State, the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Olayinka Ayanlade, has confirmed.

According to Ayanlade, the suspects — Mohammed Dangi, Abubakar Abdullahi, Sheu Usman, Toro Malami, Usman Alhaji Ummaru, Laolo Muhammadu, and Usman Alhaji Isah — were apprehended during intelligence-led operations carried out by security operatives following the attack.

The police spokesperson said the arrests were made after sustained surveillance and actionable intelligence linked the suspects to the planning and execution of the attack, which caused panic and heightened security concerns across affected communities in Oyo State.

Ayanlade disclosed that items suspected to be linked to terrorist activities were recovered from the suspects at the time of arrest. He added that the suspects are currently in custody and undergoing thorough interrogation to uncover the full scope of the operation, identify collaborators, and determine possible links to other terror cells.

“The command will not relent in its efforts to ensure that all individuals involved in acts of terrorism are brought to justice,” the PPRO said, assuring residents that security across the state has been strengthened to prevent further attacks.

The police also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue to provide useful intelligence to security agencies, stressing that community cooperation remains critical in combating terrorism and other violent crimes.

Investigations are ongoing, and the police said more arrests may follow as the operation expands.
