Rising Killings, Abductions politically orchestrated against Tinubu – Orji Kalu
Former Abia State governor and serving senator, Orji Uzor Kalu, has alleged that the escalating cases of killings and abductions in Nigeria are politically motivated and aimed at destabilising President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Kalu claimed that violent attacks carried out by bandits and terrorists across various regions are being sponsored by certain political actors seeking to undermine the government in power. He further alleged that similar tactics were deployed against former President Goodluck Jonathan.

According to the senator, the current security challenges appear to follow a pattern linked to election cycles, where some individuals attempt to “pressure the government in power” by creating instability. He also suggested that both “local people” and “members of the international community” may be involved in orchestrating unrest.
Kalu, however, expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s ability to confront the crisis effectively, noting that the president had cancelled official engagements to focus entirely on national security matters. He assured Nigerians that efforts to rescue abducted victims, including schoolgirls recently kidnapped, were ongoing.
The former governor acknowledged that the country is facing difficult times but emphasised that security agencies and service chiefs are actively responding to the situation, working to restore peace and stability.
